Proyecto Monte! Compilation ft. a piece by Notorische Ruhestörung

Proyecto Monte is a series of compilations and releases created with the aim of raising funds for the preservation and reforestation of territories affected by forest fires in various regions of Latin America. More than 346,112 fire outbreaks have occurred so far this year in South America, not only due to the climate crisis but also because of extractive policies that prioritize economic interests over the environmental crisis.

In the first edition, the compilation will be dedicated to supporting independent organizations and forest brigades working in Córdoba, Argentina, where three major fires are currently devastating the region. Over 52000 hectares of native forest have been destroyed in September alone. The most of the fires are caused by human activity, compounded by the drought, the expansion of real estate and agricultural frontiers, and cuts to environmental policies and fire management by the current Argentine government, which still denies the climate crisis. The losses are irreplaceable, both in the flora and fauna that inhabit the territory, and the entire ecosystem is affected.

“The fire takes not only biodiversity, but also history; it extinguishes species that have inhabited the land for millennia and that future generations will no longer see. It also destroys possibilities for small-scale farming, tourism industry environments, homes, and more.” Movimiento Nacional Campesino Indigena de Córdoba para La tinta.

Proyecto Monte is a testament to the power of artistic collaboration as a tool for change, awareness, and concrete action, inviting reflection on our relationship with the natural environment and promoting actions for its protection.
